KID'S CLUB CURRICULUM
The center aims to provide a nurturing, stimulating and challenging environment, which meets the needs of each child and the needs of the group as a whole.
We recognize that the children have been in a structured program at school all day and therefore we aim to provide a balance between free play, socializing and structured activities. While the schedules are flexible, some activities such as snack times and outdoor play are typically enjoyed as a group. Caregivers will work with families to establish routines that meet the needs of the children, the family and the center. Homework may be completed at the Kid's Club if your child chooses to do so.
The children have opportunities to develop their independence and learn about establishing respectful social relationships. Positive social values will be modeled with an emphasis on ensuring respect for self, others and the environment. On a regular basis, the children explore the outdoor playground at MV Beattie Elementary and on-site at the center. The program will also consist of art, science explorations, snack, free play, choice of quiet time alone or group games and activities. Television is rarely used and computer/video games are not available at the center. Monthly calendars describing these daily activities and special events will be sent home via MVB newsletter or will be available at the center.
